A Letter from the Greater Columbus Film Commissioner, Gail Mezey

Hello to All -

A spirited hearing for the Film Incentives House Bill 196 was held Wednesday, April 9. Just some of the folks testifying were; Larry Meistrich CEO and Founder of Nehst Studio. Nehst hopes to open up a movie studio in Ohio (in the Cleveland area) where they say they would make up to 12 movies a year if the incentives go through soon.

Also testifying was Antonia Ellis a Columbus native and Producer of "Sex and the City" and more recently "Men in Trees". Bernie Dwertman who is the owner of Mid West Grip and Lighting, Bob Kurtzman owner P –13 Entertainment a prolific local filmmaker who would love to work closer to home, but for financial reasons he must work in the states that have incentives.

Thank you to the unscheduled and seemingly spontaneous testimony of all kinds of creative and business people from the area.  Overall the testimony was well received and hopes are high that the bill will be passed soon.

The time is now…. please show your support of HB 196:

We need to CLOG the PHONES, FAX LINES & EMAIL INBOXES!!!

Please note: Legislators are inundated with hundreds of emails everyday, so the most effective way to get their attention is a card or letter, followed by a quick phone call with short message.

Please see attached sample emails and letters.

Please include in your letter:
