Call for Entries: '08 LA Film Festival Call for Entries - Fifth Akron Independent Film Festival __________________________________________ Fright Night Film Festival Fright Night Film Fest is the largest genre show in the Mid South. Our festival has risen to prominence and has attracted worldwide attention. Our films come from Spain, Sweden, Canada, England, LA, New York and of course all over the Country. Not only are we a Film Festival and Convention, we are an industry show providing educational forums for actors, producers, investors, directors and others wanting to break into the industry. We support the independent community by providing a forum for their film and a voice of support to help them get distribution. As a direct result of our show we have helped launch the careers many filmmakers. This year the Kentucky Arts Center will be hosting our "Silver Scream Awards" in Whitney Hall where we will be expecting over 2000 people to attend to walk the Red Carpet. This will be the venue for celebrities, filmmakers, families, press and the fan's to enjoy a great night honoring those who work so hard for their craft. You filmmakers are not going to want to miss this opportunity to get your film in competition. We are still accepting submissions until July 24th, 2008. Combined with the Film Festival is the Horror Convention with over 32,000 sq. feet of vendor space. We are also bringing in over 30 Celebrities…. Angus Scrimm, Mick Foley, a 30th Anniversary Reunion with the "Halloween Cast", Adams Family Reunion, just to name a few. This year we are working heavily with the Make-A-Wish foundation to provide one child with a wish. You are not going to want to miss the 2008 Fright Night Film Fest. Paramount Vantage and Hammer & Tongs are teaming up for a short film contest. To enter, you will need to submit an original short film about anything, literally anything! Submissions can be up to 5 minutes max. The Grand Prize winner will have their short film placed in the Special Features section of the Son of Rambow DVD. Three runners up will receive framed movie posters signed by the director and producer. The deadline for submissions is May 12, 2008. Filmmakers must be 13 years of age or older to enter. ENTRIES SOUGHT FOR OHIO SHORT FILM AND VIDEO SHOWCASE The Wexner Center is currently accepting entries for the 13th annual Ohio Short Film and Video Showcase, set for 7 p.m. Saturday (5/10) at the Wexner Center. The showcase provides Ohio's independent media artists a chance to show their work in a theatrical setting before an audience. The deadline for entries is Friday (3/28). Pieces must be independently produced, no longer than 20 minutes, and produced in Ohio within the last 18 months. Call for Entries: '08 LA Film Festival Film Independent announced today that the dates for the 14th Los Angeles Film Festival presented by the Los Angeles Times will be July 19-29, 2008. Film Independent will be accepting film submissions for the 2008 Festival starting November 1st. Final Entry Deadline: The final entry deadline for short films and music videos is February 18, while the final deadline for feature-length (50 minutes or more) narrative and documentary films is March 3. Discounted entry fees are available for submission received by the early deadline of November 30; the regular deadline is January 11. Held annually in June, Film Independent's Los Angeles Film Festival showcases the best of American and international cinema over the course of ten days. Drawing a diverse audience of over 80,000 people, more than 100 feature films narrative and documentary are screened at the Festival, alongside gala premieres, panels and seminars, free outdoor screenings, Family Day, and live musical performances. The Festival also features unique signature programs including the exclusive Filmmaker Retreat and the Spirit of Independence Award ceremony and gala. Additionally, the Festival screens short films created by high school students and has a special section devoted to music videos.
